Advanced Heartwood Massage

with Monica Perrier, MA, NCMT, CHC

Mountain MassageAdvanced Heartwood Massage takes you to a new level of massage practice technically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is the natural next step after your introductory level massage training. You will be introduced to new techniques and approaches in bodywork.

This class is designed to draw out and enhance your best skills while you turn your weaknesses into strengths and avoid burnout. You will learn more efficient and effective ways to address your clients’ needs. The course includes movement and body awareness exercises, body and hand mechanics, palpation and assessment skills and therapist self-care. You will expand your knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology, learn basic lymphatic drainage techniques and side-lying positions for special applications such as pregnancy massage. You will be introduced to Hydrotherapy theory and practical applications with low cost, easily available equipment. You will learn to integrate these applications into your bodywork sessions to enhance the quality of your client care.

Participants will also learn some active resistive joint mobilizations called Muscle Energy Techniques. These techniques focus on common chronic tension areas, giving you a new way to address old challenges without additional hand and wrist stress. At the end of the intensive, you will know how to make the most out of your hands-on skills.

Prerequisite: 100 hours of training in soft tissue massage.

7 days, 50 hours. Tuition: $695 plus accommodations.
