Hot Rock Massage not only provides intensely deep relaxation but also enables a client to enter into a deep space for healing within minutes of its application due to the physiological response of the heat. In this class we will explore the vast physiological responses taking place such as by raising the bodies temperature by 1? over an hour, 10’s of 1000’s of White Blood Cells are produced making this a detoxifying treatment. We will also incorporate cold stones and use contrast therapy in a gentle effective way, which can increase the blood flow by 100%; Making this work highly effective for chronic pain and injury rehab. Many styles of bodywork from subtle energy techniques such as Cranial Sacral, Chakra Balancing to Deep Tissue, Pin and Stretch and Neuromuscular Therapy compliment Hot Stone Massage. As part of this intensive we will spend 1 day at the ocean exploring how nature has provided us with the perfect healing tools and learning some properties of the rocks for gathering your own set.

Erica Boulangèe received her training from the originator of this contemporary technique- Mary Hannigan, LaStone Therapy®. She has performed 1000’s of treatments and worked as lead Hot Stone therapist at the internationally acclaimed Golden Door Spa in Puerto Rico. Since 2003 She has taught 25-50 hour Hot Stone Massage intensive immersion classes. She began her training at the age of nineteen with a two-year internship with Native American Herbalist/ Naturopathic Dr. wild-crafting herbs in exchange for authentic alternative medicine teachings. She is a graduate of Crestone Healing Arts Center and an approved provider for continuing education through the NCBTMB. Erica continues to study with masters from all over the world, taking hundreds of Continuing Education hours and also teaches classes in Chinese medicine, Thai massage, Shiatsu and Chinese Assessment Techniques. She has co-taught with Paul Pitchford author of Healing with Whole Foods: Asian traditions and modern nutrition for several years while living at Heartwood Institute. Erica is currently in private practice in Aspen, Colorado. |
